In an earlier post, yours truly demonstrated a nice simple basic kayak roll in the wonderful warm safe confines of a swimming pool.
A friend, fellow kayak instructor, and far better kayak roller than I, decided we would catch the fall colours up north of Toronto.
So we threw our boats on the roof rack of his car and headed North out of the city for a colorful change of scenery.
The water temperature this time of the year, especially the further north you travel, becomes very cool.
My commentary on the accompanying video will answer your query as to how “cool” I mean.
You will also notice that my friend “Paul Renault” is paddling a skin on frame kayak, and wearing kayak gear called a tuilik.
Paul’s boat and clothing symbolizes and honors the tradition from the original inhabitants of Greenland who used kayaks for their livelihood on the water.
The different kayak rolling styles originated from this part of the world as well.
If that video doesn’t convince you of the temperature that day…..
Here is a second, shorter video, to show you that it was indeed, to say the least, chilly. Enjoy 🙂
Wowzers! Looks like fun except for the temperature! The scenery out there must be beautiful! haha
Hey Tracy, the scenwry up North in the fall is gorgeous. Yes the water is chilly but I don’t plan on getting wet. Thanks for the comment 😉
looks exciting …..would love to try it….. in the summer 🙂
It’s a blast Dina, we’ll figure something out next summer 😉
